about

Continuing the trend with only some of the finest back catalogue releases remastered on Rotation at the moment, next up is a name so synonymous with techno that he has become a modern legend of the scene in his own right, and that man is Steve Rachmad, with the double header 'Tir Na Nog / Divide And Conquer' originally released in 2000.

Dave says 'Steve and I go way back, he was someone I respected way before he ever sent me any demos for Rotation - we both played together many times back in the day and there was always a good connection, he's just such a lovely guy! When we used to get demos in the post they would always end up in a big pile each week on DAT and cassette, and every package had the sender's name on it, so I'd usually dedicate 2 days a week in the studio to get through all the new demos that came in, but as soon as Steve's name popped up, he jumped straight to the top of the pile! In my opinion Steve is a very very talented producer and still has a lot to say, even today.

One of the funniest memories I have is when we both played at the legendary The End club in London one night and he was absolutely licking this tune out, so I just had to run up to the booth and ask him what it was - I could see he was only playing a white label and he just turned and looked at me and said 'it's one of yours, Dave'. To this day I still have absolutely no idea which track of mine it was, hahaha!'
